Winona Ryder Professionally Winona Ryder, was born on Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her the city she grew up in after her birthplace. His father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She is the younger sister of Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder relocated with her family members to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. The family didn't have electricity. Ryder became an avid reading book because there was no television. When she turned 12 years old, Ryder took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre to take classes in acting. In 1986 she landed her first role on the big screen in the movie Lucas when she was just 15 years old. Ryder suffered from bullying in high school. Ryder hoped her career in acting would alter the way she dealt with bullying. It didn't work out. The actress pursued her dreams. The year 1988 saw her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder had a successful role in numerous films. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated in the Academy Awards. One of was for her performance on the film The Age of Innocence.
