April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball athletes to have medals won at several Olympics. Ross is scheduled to compete in Tokyo in her third Olympics medal alongside Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. More than that though Ross hopes to win their first Olympic gold. This could be the final opportunity for her as she is 39 years old. She is nevertheless confident that winning the gold medal is at hand. Ross has told NBC Boston that he believes if they play their highest, or play a good game, then they will be able to win gold. Also, I am going have a chance to try my hand at fortunate. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Apart from playing indoor volleyball, she also played tennis and also jogged track when she was professional athletes. In the last sport, she clearly stood out. During her high school career she played middle blocker out setter and hitter on the volleyball court as per her school bio. Her achievements were acknowledged with her selection as the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. In 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been working together in 2017. The reality is that Ross had already been a seasoned participant in the scene of beach volleyball before Klineman and Ross joined forces. In reality, she was the winner of numerous major events with two different partners, one of whom is the volleyball legend. The pair was Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, in addition to serving as Klineman and Kessy's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international circuit winning the world championship in 2009. The pair eventually captured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary team comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). The fate of the matter was that Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics the year 2016. Ross was a student athlete who played for the Trojans at USC before beginning making the jump to professional. She was a player at high school and even years prior to playing on the beach as a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was stellar. In 2000, she was recognized as Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year. In addition, she was she was an All-American. In addition, she helped the Trojans advance to their first Final Four. During her sophomore season, she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to repeat as an All-American. In her last two seasons as a player, she steered the Trojans up the hill, capturing three consecutive championships at the national level. In her own way She established her spot in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award was presented to the best female collegiate player of the year in America. Ross was a International Relations major at USC. Sadly, Ross mother Margie never got to see her daughter reach the very top in beach volleyball's acclaim. In 2001 when Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother died of breast cancer. Her mother is still dear. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her, both on and off the beach.
